General Manager

General Manager – The House, Ramsgate

The House is an independent luxury boutique hotel in the heart of Ramsgate, offering beautifully designed accommodation, outstanding food and drink, and unforgettable guest experiences. We are looking for an exceptional General Manager to lead our hotel into its next phase of growth.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional who is passionate about boutique hotels, thrives in a hands-on environment, and understands how to balance operational excellence with commercial success. As General Manager, you will be responsible for every aspect of the business, ensuring The House continues to deliver outstanding service while achieving ambitious financial and operational objectives.

The Role

Reporting directly to the owners, you will have full responsibility for the day-to-day operation and overall performance of the hotel. You will lead and inspire the team, drive revenue and profitability, maintain exceptional service standards, and ensure every guest enjoys a memorable stay.

As the face of The House, you will lead by example, creating a culture where excellence, attention to detail and genuine hospitality are at the heart of everything we do.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall operation of The House, ensuring exceptional standards across all departments.
  • Deliver outstanding guest experiences through personalised, attentive service.
  • Drive commercial performance by maximising occupancy, ADR, RevPAR and overall profitability.
  • Develop and implement business strategies to grow revenue across accommodation, food and beverage, events and partnerships.
  • Manage budgets, forecasting, financial reporting and cost control.
  • Recruit, lead, coach and develop a high-performing team, fostering a positive and accountable workplace culture.
  • Ensure the hotel consistently meets brand standards, quality expectations and guest satisfaction targets.
  • Oversee all compliance with Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Food Hygiene, Licensing, Employment Law and GDPR.
  • Maintain the hotel to the highest presentation standards through proactive maintenance and property management.
  • Build strong relationships with local businesses, tourism partners and the Ramsgate community.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the guest experience, improve operational efficiency and support long-term business growth.
  • Act as the hotel’s ambassador, protecting and enhancing The House’s reputation within the local community and wider hospitality market.

About You

You’ll be an experienced hospitality leader with a genuine passion for boutique hotels and delivering exceptional guest experiences.

You’ll bring:

  • Proven experience as a General Manager or senior operational leader within a boutique hotel, luxury hotel or high-quality hospitality business.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, P&L, forecasting and revenue performance.
  • A track record of improving operational performance while maintaining exceptional guest satisfaction.
  • Outstanding leadership skills with the ability to inspire, coach and develop teams.
  • A visible, hands-on management style and a willingness to support every department when required.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and decision-making skills.
  • Experience working with hotel property management systems and revenue management principles.
  • A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of service, quality and professionalism.

Restaurant Manager

£35,000 – £38,000 per year

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Restaurant Manager to lead the operation of our luxury boutique hotel restaurant. You will bring strong leadership, a real passion for hospitality and a full understanding of food service management. The role is about delivering exceptional guest experiences, holding high standards of food safety and quality, and leading a dedicated team in a refined setting.

Full-time In person, Ramsgate Restaurant

What you will do

  • Manage daily restaurant operations and keep service running smoothly
  • Supervise and motivate the team, including servers, kitchen staff and baristas, and build a positive working environment
  • Oversee food preparation and cooking to uphold high culinary standards
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times
  • Coordinate food production, presentation and service to get the best out of every guest visit
  • Organise staff schedules, training programmes and performance appraisals
  • Monitor stock levels and liaise with suppliers so quality ingredients are always available
  • Handle guest enquiries, complaints and special requests with professionalism and tact
  • Maintain standards of cleanliness, organisation and overall ambience in the restaurant
  • Work with hotel management on marketing initiatives and special events

What we are looking for

  • Proven supervisory experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting
  • Extensive restaurant experience with a strong background in food preparation, cooking and food safety
  • Demonstrable team management skills, with the ability to lead and inspire
  • Experience in hotels or fine dining is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of culinary techniques, food production processes and kitchen operations
  • Barista experience or bar management skills are an advantage
  • Strong leadership qualities and excellent organisational skills

Sales Manager

£14.00 – £15.00 per hour

Reporting to the General Manager and Director, you will drive revenue across all market segments, with a particular focus on corporate business, meetings and events, and local partnerships. The role carries a small amount of basic marketing responsibility, but the emphasis is firmly on proactive sales and developing new and existing business.

You will create and implement the hotel’s sales and marketing plan, identifying opportunities to increase market share and profitability while supporting delivery of revenue targets.

Part-time Hybrid remote, Ramsgate Sales & marketing

What you will do

  • Work closely with the GM and Director to retain and grow existing business and identify new opportunities
  • Research competitor activity, market trends and rate intelligence to identify target business
  • Support annual budget preparation and deliver agreed sales strategies
  • Source, secure and contract new and repeat business across all market sectors, with particular emphasis on corporate meetings, events and banqueting
  • Prepare account development plans for major clients
  • Use brand sales initiatives and tools to drive business performance
  • Support the marketing team with database management and data capture
  • Identify and develop mutually beneficial partnerships with local attractions and businesses
  • Coordinate local marketing activity and assist with sales collateral production
  • Work alongside the marketing team to keep the hotel’s local social media presence and online content accurate and up to date
  • Maximise local PR opportunities where appropriate
  • Promote a strong sales culture throughout the hotel and engage the wider team
  • Represent the hotel at networking events, seminars and local business functions

Servicer / Bartender

£12.71 per hour

The House Hotel is seeking a friendly and professional Server/Bartender to join our vibrant hospitality team. This role involves delivering exceptional service to our hotel guests, preparing and serving food and beverages, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for hospitality, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Previous restaurant experience is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within the hospitality industry while providing memorable experiences for our guests.

Duties
